I Need Help With Making A Model ! ! !?

I have been put in charge of powering a model city that my 11th grade drafting class is building all year. I came up with the idea of water power, but I don’t know how to do it. All that i’ve searched has only told me how to power full houses and towns. I need to know how i could make this idea work.

The city will be 8′ x 8′ x 6′, and will be equiped with lighting, a water pump (for the river flow), and possibly a train model. Please help…

Most water power comes from a hydroelectric facility, consisting of a *dam* and impoundment (or lake). If your model has little terrain, it will be (as in real life) a poor candidate for hydropower. Even *with* hills or canyons, your to-scale head is likely to be very low (1-2 feet).

You would need a small, low-friction generator, and some kind of wheel or turbine that can turn it with the head available. Even at this, lights in the city might need to be LED’s, or some other low-power device.

If you just want it to *look* like hydropower, make the dam and lake, and put a substation near the dam.
